My Students

"I see and I remember. I do and I understand." I'm sure we've all heard this quote at some point or another. I want my students to "see" and "do". I want my students to be active participants in the learning experience. A camcorder would allow them to do just that.

I teach a fabulous group of 4th grade students at a Fine and Performing Arts charter school in Michigan.

They area in which my students live has been largely affected by the downfall of the American Auto Industry. Yet, my students still have positive attitudes and remain to keep their eyes directed toward the future. They have an insatiable desire to learn and explore.

My Project

I am requesting an HP camcorder and memory cards to record my students. We will use this camcorder for every subject area and for countless projects. The students will record themselves reading to help them improve their oral reading skills. They will record themselves giving Social Studies and Science presentations, so the can improve their public speaking skills. They will also take turns recording things that they find interesting throughout the school day, and present their recordings to the class as a writing prompt the following day.

This project is extremely important to my students.

You have the opportunity to help my students, "see" and remember, "do" and understand. Students learn best from their own experiences and their peers. You have the opportunity to help them play a monumental role in their own and their peers' learning experiences. Thank you for considering contributing to my students and their futures.
