Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am teaching at a school in an urban community of almost 600 students. We currently have a little over 150 students identified as English Learners. In addition to the various ethnicities at our school, our students mainly come from high-poverty backgrounds. One hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch daily.

My goal is to help my multilingual students build a solid foundation in English.

Students come to school each day with the knowledge that our classroom is a safe place to grow and learn. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. One of the most research-based ways that multilingual students learn is through visuals. The color printer will help me make using colorful, impactful visuals helps them make connections between a concept and English vocabulary. I want to provide them with the materials needed to give them access to the high-quality instruction they deserve.
