Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach students on the alternate curriculum with different and unique disabilities. My students are enthusiastic and always eager to learn. However, learning for my students looks different than it does for typical students. The students in my class have high sensory needs and require more hands-on learning in order to be successful. As schools re-open, my students are going to have a tough time following COVID-19 safety protocols. Their intellectual disabilities limit their understanding of the dangers of socializing and not wearing masks. Please help keep my students safe when school re-opens.

My Project

Over a year after school closures, our school district has given us the green light for a hybrid in-person/ online model. As exciting as this is, it is also very concerning for parents and students in my classroom. I teach students with high needs and high-risk health conditions. These students' severe disabilities prevent them from fully understanding the protocols in place for COVID-19. Therefore, I want to create a safe and clean classroom environment for my students, but I can only do this with your help! My school is located in South Central Los Angeles and we were an area that was hit drastically with COVID-19 cases. Not all the families I work with have the resources to purchase all the items on my list. This is why I ask you to help me get my project funded. It would mean the world to my students, families, and classroom staff.
