Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title 1 school in NYC where we are experiencing the toughest times. My students are already faced with so many economic hardships, so I can only imagine what they are experiencing during this pandemic. Many students are just receiving their devices for online learning and are having difficulty navigating their work.

Many of my students do not have the ability to learn online without live teaching.

They depend on small group work and hands on activities. Despite these challenges, they are still eager to learn.

My Project

In my project, I am asking for a dry erase board and markers to use during live lessons with my students. I am coming back from maternity leave during this unimaginable time and am unable to get any materials for teaching from my classroom. These materials would help tremendously so that I can offer students an engaging lesson just as if we were in the classroom.

As many of my students are trying to adjust to remote learning, I am trying to bring a sense of normalcy to their lives.

I use a dry erase board with my students to show them new concepts and this will be a great tool to have at home so I can continue to do so. When we do return to school, this will be a great addition to our classroom and small group work where students will be able to show the class their thinking on the board!
