My Students

My name is Ms. Loretta and I am a middle school counselor in the Bronx. My students are the most loving, caring and genuine kids you could ever have the pleasure of knowing. I service students with special, emotional, and social needs.

My Project

We are a Title 1 school in the Bronx, New York meaning many of our students are socioeconomically disadvantaged. Food insecurity is a major issue for some families and some middle school students are not inclined to eat the limited meals provided in the cafeteria. Having a variety of snacks in our guidance office encourages our pre-teens to come to school and visit our office for a brief talk which leads to life-changing conversations. Relationships can be developed and a sense of trust can be formed over a simple granola bar and for this reason, I am requesting to fill a snack pantry in my guidance office.
