My Students

I am a middle school counselor in the Bronx. I service students with special needs and underprivileged children. I am working on transitioning my office to a zen/calm room. My mandated students suffer with mental health issues and do well in calm spaces. We are also working on developing our Young Men and Women empowerment clubs that provide our students with a safe place after school and introduces them into different social environments and focuses on college and career readiness.

My Project

Many of my students have experienced trauma or have been through something that has impacted their education. For many of them school is the safest, most stable place for them. I like to provide them with not only an education but a place where they can always go to for snacks, water, anything to meet their basic needs. Unfortunately that comes at a cost for me and I am not always able to provide for them as best as I want. These supplies will aid in their success. It will provide them with food and opportunities they may not be receiving anywhere else.
