This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year I have been lucky to teach a dynamic bunch of scholars. Throughout our physical time together in the classroom, they showed how articulate, respectful, motivated, outstanding and responsible they can be. They loved to work on challenging tasks that encourage productive discourse. They enjoy participating in hands-on activities. Late in the school year, we were confronted with the challenge, like all NYC students, to learn online. Needless to say, this group of scholars rose to the challenge. Though the digital world was quickly forced upon us with no warning, the scholars persevered each day learning online. I was placed at the forefront with hopes to guide them to reach their fullest potential regardless of the demands of the world around them. More importantly, the community of learners I, alongside my co-teacher, teach come from diverse households many of which face challenges such as social, emotional, academic and financial hardships in their daily lives aside from the pandemic we are now living with.

While the teachers and support staff strive to provide resources, it truly takes a village.

Please help me support these bright scholars shine as they should at the Jewel of Long Island City.

My Project

Mpow CH6S are bright in color and comfortable enough for little ears. These headphones will support students' attention and block out environmental noise. Additionally, the headphones provide a mic feature that will allow scholars to engage in meaningful conversations amongst their peers. The best learning takes place when scholars are able to share ideas, thoughts, and questions.

Each student will receive their own pair of headphones allowing them to engage in auditory and verbal communication.

Headphones are a necessary component of their distance learning. As teachers, it is our goal to support all types of learners to learn to their highest potential, even while we are not in the classroom. More importantly, because we have shifted to remote learning we strive to increase learning that involves reading, videos, read aloud articles and vocabulary slideshows to build background knowledge and support all learners. This also aids in increasing student interest and motivation within the learning process!
