Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The overall goal of our calm down space is to provide my kindergarten students with a space in which they’ll feel safe.

I want to create a designated space in the classroom where students can go when they need to regulate their emotions.

This space can help children to practice identifying feelings and emotions, to better manage their stress, and to self-regulate and control their impulses.

While in this space, they will have items such as liquid sensory windows, wonder wands, cuddly puppy lap pad, fidget poppers, gel bead sensory shapes, calming color soft seats, and sensory rings to help them relax and rejoin the class when ready.

Having a space designed to support my kindergarten students emotionally and physically, is so important because they are able to feel safe and comfortable. It will also help them focus on their learning.
