Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a special education teacher of a self contained classroom with special learners diagnosed with autism, speech delays, and health issues; my first goal is to create an inclusive classroom that my students will love, be eager to attend and that meets their needs. My little learners are in kindergarten and first grade and some have not attended school before and many are new to our school. I have requested materials that support their sensory needs, social emotional learning, their education, and builds their social skills through play-based learning.

With the materials I have requested my little learners will learn social skills such as taking turns, sharing, communication, and building friendships.

They will also adapt to their educational setting such as transitioning to and from the classroom, rotating work stations, and using different materials appropriately. My little learners will grow academically with the support of play-based learning. The school supplies and flexible seating I requested will support their needs and help them access the academic curriculum.

I aim to create an inclusive classroom that supports my students' needs and helps them grow as a whole person.
