Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have been teaching at our school for 7 years. Before I came to this school there was no soccer program, and I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to start one. Our HS Soccer team is entering its 4th year as a club, and our 2nd year as a full club playing other schools across NYC. This season we will be beginning to work on building a girls team as there have been many interested girls looking to play at our school.

Our team is full of dedicated student-athletes who come from all athletic abilities and skill levels but all have the same passion, desire and drive for soccer.

Some students have been playing seriously for several years, while some are only taking the pitch for the first time, trying to learn this beautiful game.

This project will fund an away jersey (necessary for PSAL regulations) training tops and some equipment for our team.

My Project

Having an away shirt for our team will make a huge difference to this program financially. It will ensure that we will be in compliance with the city league rules. We have 20-25 kids who show up to practice every day, so every piece of equipment helps! Most students don't have soccer balls or bring one to practice so having as many as possible will allow for more individual skill-based training which will greatly benefit our team. We usually have 5-7 students show up who have no experience playing soccer and have no equipment, so having shin guards to distribute to our team is going to go a long way in supporting our new team members.
