Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am an SLP working in a self-contained kindergarten classroom with six incredible students, all of whom are autistic. Each student has unique needs and strengths, and I am constantly looking for ways to support their communication, learning, and growth.

We are seeking sensory toys, light-up toys, cause-and-effect toys, materials to create visual supports, and more.

These tools will allow us to provide engaging, individualized activities that foster communication, sensory regulation, and skill-building. Sensory and light-up toys will help students regulate their emotions and stay engaged during activities. Cause-and-effect toys are vital for teaching foundational communication and cognitive skills, and the materials for visual supports will enhance understanding of routines, choices, and expectations in their daily lives.

I am also looking for a tablet. This technology will support my students by offering them a voice through AAC apps, promoting engagement with interactive lessons, and encouraging growth in their expressive and receptive language skills. It will also help them practice routines, develop fine motor skills, and explore their creativity in a way that aligns with their unique learning styles.
