My Students

We know that every kindergarten student has different needs! For some children, a sensory cushion can give them the sensory input they need to stay engaged during lessons.

Our students are trailblazers!

They are the second class in a new neighborhood public school that opened last year. Our school is focused on social action where we teach children about the world they live in and how they can make a difference. The kindergarten curriculum revolves around homes and habitats, so students learn about different types of homes around the world, as well as what happens when people don't have a home. They also learn about animals in the Arctic and the Amazon Rainforest, and how rainforest habitats are being destroyed. Through social action projects, these students are activists from a young age, working hard to change the world for the better!

My Project

Our classroom is an inclusive space, where we want all children to have the opportunity to do their best. For some students, this means using external tools to help with their attention. Sensory cushions can give children something tactile to help them feel grounded and thereby focus their minds. These cushions can also help students' posture, making them more alert and ready to learn. In addition, we do a lot of small group and center work in our classroom, which allows students to have individual attention differentiated to their specific needs. A small table-top white board would help us give visual support during small group lessons so that students stay involved and so that we can address the multiple learning styles in our class.

Sensory cushions and a small white board would give all our students what they need to actively listen during lessons, particularly when in a small-group setting.

The more focused students are, the more they can learn and enjoy school!
