My Students

I have a wonderful class of students who are ready and willing to learn. Everyday when I come into the classroom, my students can't wait to get unpacked and pick up their books. I watch them trying to "read intensely" as Teacher's College Units of Study wants them to. They spend minutes on each page making sure they understand every detail. It's a teacher's dream.

While my students are all eager to learn, many of them experience huge learning obstacles.

I teach in a 4th grade ICT classroom, where not only do I have students with special learning needs outlined in a specialized plan, but I also have many students reading at a 1st and 2nd grade level. Many of my students experience language processing issues so that reading is more of a tedious task, than a fun, learning filled experience. I would like to get iPads for my students so that they can listen to audio books and use language processing disorder apps to help them overcome their learning obstacles.

My Project

These iPads will take my students from struggling with every word on every page to reading and comprehending books at their grade level .

My wonderful class of 4th grade students are struggling with many language processing learning disabilities that get in the way of their ability to enjoy books.

Everyday I see my students struggle so much to understand texts and so want to read.

My students love to read aloud and get the text that I'm reading way above grade level. It's not that they are not capable of learning. They just have an extra obstacle in the way that most people don't have. These iPads will allow them to listen to books on their grade level everyday and begin to read them!
