My Students

I have three classes of very unique students this year. Each one of them has their own talents. They all came in on the first day of school expressing that they wanted to improve their math scores this year through a goal setting activity. They are all very motivated to do better this year with your help and support.

Many of them expressed that they hate math due to their weak computational skills.

I would like them to change that thought and start building confidence in math class.

My Project

I would like students to spend more time understanding a math word problem and decide what operations they need to perform in order to get the correct answer. I don't want to see them struggle in the computational part of the problem and get the wrong answer. A class set of TI-34 calculators can be a great tool for them to improve their math grades and build their confidence level. They can use these calculators in class for classwork, quizzes, projects, and tests. Even for students who are strong in computational skills, they can use the calculators to double check their answers.
