This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students help run our school coffee cart! I teach first through fifth grade students with moderate to profound intellectual disabilities and the coffee cart is the highlight of our week!
This cart helps introduce my students to the school as a whole.
They are the face of our coffee cart and the heart and soul behind it. They are the ones who take orders from teachers, deliver the coffee, and collect payment. We are not only showing our appreciation for our amazing teachers, but we are also practicing essential social skills and practicing direction following. What looks like a fun little activity is beyond helpful for their future. We have been running our cart for about a year now and our supplies are dwindling. We need a restock of coffee, creamer, cups, and other drinks to keep it going.
