This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My vivacious, creative, and affable students are from a high needs/high poverty public elementary school in New York City.
They love art and are very grateful that our school offers a visual arts education program that understands the impact art has on their development.
They typically share all of the materials. In order to prevent the spread of Covid19, they can no longer share materials and will need to supply their own. Since we are a high poverty school, it is going to be difficult for parents to purchase art materials for their children. I really want these materials so they don't miss out on meaningful experiences in art.
My Project
These art materials will help the children continue to create beautiful art during this pandemic. Our children can't share art materials now and I know it will be challenging for families to purchase their own art supplies during this time. I'm going to be doing a lot of collage and painting so I want to ensure that every single child has their own glue and paint brush. We will be using the glue and paintbrushes to create painted paper collages. They will also be able to bring their glue and paint brush home with them to create art during remote learning as well.
