Student's at our school love to learn! They enjoy reading, but sometimes struggle to read on grade level. They are into sports and technology. We are a one to one school, so children are able to learn electronically. They enjoy researching and exploring apps.
Our school has a wonderful school-wide community.
We are like a family and everyone watches out for each other. It is not uncommon to see an older student helping a kindergartener tie their shoe in the hallway.
Our school is a MEDIA magnet with a heavy emphasis on technology. However, this coming school year our technology will be "phased out" and will need to be replenished. With the large push for digital data, we now use devices for almost all assessments of student learning. Reading intervention required iPads to complete specific assessments required by our program. At the end of this school year we had to turn in all of our current iPads and found out they will not be able to be used next school year. We will be unable to complete our required assessments without these devices.
This iPad will allow us to gather data we can use to inform our instruction.
It will be utilized many times during the year for assessment purposes, but could also be used by students! We are hopeful that students will be able to use apps on the iPad to enhance their learning. We would also be able to use the iPad for creation purposes using apps to create their own books or record themselves retelling stories.
