Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students were unable to participate in OBOB this year because we did not have individual resources and many of them do not have access to books when at home. This is our chance to make this an equitable opportunity and bridge the gap!

We will start small reading groups (consisting of 4 students each and in book club form) as soon as our books come in, which will prepare them for next years OBOB and strengthen their reading skills.

But, more importantly, my students will be diving into quality reading materials to further develop their reading skills. The majority of my students are at high risk in reading and these materials will provide them with exciting, engaging stories to get them interested in reading.
