My Students

I work in a Title I NYC school. Title I schools are in high need areas. The students at my school face many struggles both inside and outside of the classroom, yet they are resilient and eager to learn. As an Occupational Therapist (OT), I service students with special needs ranging from autism spectrum disorder to ADHD, sensory processing disorder, dysgraphia, and learning disabilities. This project was created to help our students cope with their emotional, physical, motor, and sensory needs. My goal is to provide students with the resources they need to enhance their participation and independence throughout the school environment.

My Project

The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students are essential for those that need external guidance while writing and organizing their thoughts. As Occupational Therapists we engaged the fine muscles of the hand, visual perceptual, and visual motor skills required to be successful in writing using various techniques. However some students may required addition aid that acts as a prompt. Highlighted and raise paper serve as visual and tactile aids for our students that may have difficulty in this area. Please help us make their writing and lesson goals attainable!
