I work in a self-contained special education elementary school for children with a variety of disabilities. My class consists of 6 children with autism. My students do not have spontaneous speech and need help with most activities. Each student in my class has different needs and works on their individual goals daily. I work one on one with the students to help them meet their goals. My students have been learning very quickly this year. Too quickly! I cannot keep up with their pace. Finding materials to meet my students' individual needs is very challenging. I am constantly reassessing and moving on to more advanced programs. I feel like I do not find materials as fast as they learn. This unfortunately slows them down. Finding materials that meet their needs is extremely challenging and time consuming. I would like to request materials that will help my students learn. These materials will be used in different ways to meet all my students' academic needs. I am requesting cards, activities and games that will help to expand my students social, language, and academic skills. These materials will fit the current and future needs of my students. These materials will be used in group and individual instruction. Having appropriate materials on hand will allow my students to advance as quickly as possible. In addition to the teaching materials I am requesting dividers to block out any distractions while I am working one on one with my students and storage boxes. These materials will serve my students and many more to come.
