This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Soccer team is a mixed group of 9th 10th graders who enjoy sports. We are on the East Side of Las Vegas. This area is notoriously known for being underserved. MA has over 85% free and reduced lunch, and we provide free tutoring and enrichment programs to expand their horizons.

My new favorite saying is, Hard work isn’t easy; that’s why they call it hard work.

My students know this first hand; they have already overcome many obstacles in their young lives. They learned this lesson firsthand, whether they are looking out for their siblings, balancing work and school, or just helping out at home.

My Project

Good preparation creates successful habits and sets teams up for success. Giving each player a soccer ball to train all season long not only allows them to train at home and during their free time, but it builds responsibility. Each player will learn to come to training sessions and matches prepared and take ownership over their equipment. All team members will have more repetitions, opportunities to learn, chances to develop, and master ball control. This will also build confidence.

This project is all about training and building a solid foundation during our inaugural season.

The Quickster Portable Soccer Net will be used to bolster individual ball skills. It helps simulate passing, receiving, and even volleying the ball at various speeds and difficulty levels. Players will improve their reactions to a plethora of match-like situations.

Dehydration leads to injuries, but it is preventable. The water cooler and the team water bottles and carrier will give players and even our opponents a readily available and accessible source of hydration. These will also save time during training and competitions, providing water and sports drinks directly on the sideline.
