My Students

My students may not come from the greatest homes or have a wealth of experiences, but they do give 100% plus when they come to school. We talk about challenges and how to face them. We talk about staying positive no matter what our situations. We are always learning from each other. To see the smiles on the faces of my students daily makes me one lucky person. It makes me proud to see the resiliency in my students that come from challenging backgrounds.

For most of my students, school is the place where they gain experiences and feel safe.

My students attend an inner-city school that has Pre-K through 5th graders. Most of the student come from diverse backgrounds and struggle academically. School is a place where they are able to learn about technology, as most students have no internet access at home.

My Project

I was recently given a Mimio Interactive Whiteboard system from a colleague, but it is missing some of the important pieces that make it work. The system itself is in excellent condition, but it is missing the cable, stylus pen, and USB cord necessary to get it up and running.

What's the point of having interactive technology in the classroom if it isn't able to work?

With the completion of this system, my students will be able to take their learning to the next level by participating in engaging and interactive lessons in all the content areas. They will be able to demonstrate and explain their strategies to their peers in Math, explore real-life examples of Science concepts being learned, and listen and respond to books during Reading. Once we receive the missing pieces for our Mimio Interactive system, my students will truly be engaged in using technology to enhance their learning all day long!
