Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager to explore and learn, are extremely resilient, hard working, full of potential and constantly overcoming obstacles. They are determined and motivated to succeed and make themselves and their family proud, yet my students face many obstacles in their community, like gang violence, poverty, pollution, lack of resources and opportunities. These students show up to school eager to learn, ready to work hard and become empowered through education.

These students are the future..

the future brilliant scientists, doctors, community leaders and advocates for equality. Your support will help provide students with fun incentives, rewards and treats for all of their hard work. At my school, students earn points for following expectations in class, helping others and expressing their ideas. These points are then used to purchase items at our student store. I am trying to raise money to purchase items students can buy using their hard-earned points!

My Project

This items will help us create fun items to purchase at our student store. We make things like mystery bags that student purchase with points they have earned. Mystery bags are a mystery and students have no idea what's inside (we use party bags to hide the goodies). The students love all the different items we purchase.. we just need help in getting funding for some of our items.

One of the ways we create a positive culture at our school is by giving students opportunities to win and also buy items with their student points.

The points are earned in the classroom in a variety of ways -- sharing responses, helping a partner, following directions, etc. Once we reach the middle of the semester, it gets harder and harder to keep students focused. These incentives we create really help push students to keep going since they have items they can purchase, essentially for free!
