Help Ms. Collins

I teach high school biology in an urban school. With tight budgets, extra supplies are not readily available. My students are also required to take an "End of Course" exam covering all of the material throughout the school year similar to a college final exam. It is imperative that my students have a full understanding of the material.

Biology is not always the most interesting subject for my students. To help I like to bring in outside resources to use in my classroom. I have found that my students learn best, and are more engaged, when we are not simply reading out of the textbook. Utilizing visual aids is also critical in giving the visual learners an image to relate to the unit.

I would like to add more visual aids to my curriculum. By having these posters, I believe that my students will make another connection to the material which will help them when it is time to take their end of course exam. The biomes posters will give the students an image of what each of the different biomes actually looks like as well as characteristics about it. The cells poster set will be a great help with the different images and parts of the different cells we study. The cells set can also be used in anatomy and physiology classes. These visual aids will also help my students to better learn the material before advancing to the college level. Knowing the material and being exposed to the content in high school will make them more successful in college.

These visual aids will greatly enhance my classroom and learning for my students. I am hoping the added visual aids help my students on their exams and better prepares them to take biology in college. Thank you for your support of science education!
