My Students

My students are a part of a Title I school and have created a warm-welcoming environment in our class. For a lot of these students, our classroom provides the only stable, safe and secure environment each and every day. This class carries a variety of learners that work equally as hard but in varying ways.

Each of my students come to school excited to learn, succeed and create with those around them.

The twenty-four of them have shared a unique year together developing relationships, lessons, and perseverance that wouldn't have happened any other way. They've welcomed a first year teacher halfway through the year with open arms!

My Project

I am located in southern Utah and the resources I have requested will greatly benefit my students individual needs in my third grade classroom. Due to COVID- 19, like other schools around the nation, my students are behind a third grade level. I've decided to include materials and resources catering to those needs in my class.

I am continuing to further my education using technology in the classroom.

An iPad will allow me to be mobile while I teach lessons through the Airplay feature. It will also allow me to teach my lessons live so students in quarantine can get the same lesson and instruction at home. This will ensure that every student will receive our guaranteed and reliable curriculum throughout the ongoing pandemic ripple effect. Furthermore, the features of an iPad will provide an efficient way to track student progress by moving around to each child.

In our classroom, we do a lot of independent work. This is when students are responsible for staying on task while I'm working with a small group. Many of my students are capable of these tasks, but some need a little more support. These supplies will encourage my students to self regulate and work independently. More importantly, to set them up for success if COVID-19 does shut our school/district down for a second time. A lot of these supplies are class size for sanitary reasons, so each child can have their own. The materials needed for independent practice are noise cancelling headphones, notebooks, folders, and clipboards.

I'm confident that these materials I'm requesting will close the achievement gap that was caused by COVID-19.
