My Students

I have an active and diverse group of first grade students. They love to sing, dance, learn and play. Each day in our classroom, we work on the important skills needed to be part of a community and to care for one another as we grow as first grade students.

My first graders are cheerful, energetic learners who love to learn with hands on activities.

Each day they are learning the critical skills of working together, problem solving and compromise. These important skills will help my students each day, both at school and in their communities.

My Project

First graders are all heart! A classroom library filled with books about feelings, friendship and inclusion is so important in a first grade classroom. My students love to be read to, and the stories they enjoy the most are about characters dealing with their feelings and how to handle emotions.

Each day at school, children are navigating big feelings and how to appropriately deal with them.

A library filled with books about friendship and feelings allows children to reflect and grow from their challenges. In class, we can read these books and have class discussions about feelings and make connections to things that we have experienced ourselves.
