Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in the gym with my student athletes is hard. We have one set of 6 balls (used to be 7 but one magically disappeared) which THREE teams have to share for their overlapping two hour practices. The girls need access to materials in order for each level of the program to be successful.

My students are female student athletes.

They come from a low-income school and many of them cannot afford to pay for the basic necessities for school or sports. These girls do not let this stop them from their dream. Although money is hard to come by they continue to dedicate themselves to the sport and work hard with the materials they have. Some of these girls have not bought a new ball in the 4 years they have been playing basketball.

My Project

These fifteen basketballs and the ball cart would allow the girls to all have access to the resources needed to play and grow within the sport of basketball. Each team would have access to multiple balls allowing the girls to use them at their coaches discretion as opposed to simply allowing varsity to take all the balls first and every other team get what is left over.

Donations to this project will help me facilitate the growth and education of my student athletes.

This will allow the girls to grow on the court and increase their abilities to strive for the scholarships and playing at the next level they dream of.
