This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Do you want to help ignite children's passion for reading and build a lifelong love of reading? That's one of the reasons I went into teaching.

It's my nineteenth year teaching.

I am amazed at how excited my scholars are when we learn about new authors or when I have new books to add to our library.

You could participate in this wonderful project. With your generous donation, my students will enjoy leveled nonfiction and fiction books.

My students need a collection of high-interest books, such as My Weird School, Knuffle Bunny and fun chapter books, to keep them engaged in reading all day long. Unfortunately, my classroom library does not meet the needs of my very excited bookworms. I can often be found at the public library three or four nights a week, checking out extra books for my students. I am asking for high-interest books to add to our collection.

At my elementary school, my students read for at least twenty minutes daily. During that time, they can read their favorite books independently. Reading with their favorite characters would be a fantastic experience. I want to encourage them to build their reading stamina and focus on their books.

In the end, I want reading to be fun!
