My Students

Have you ever listened to someone casually discussing the elaborate gift they purchased for a loved one and realizing that gift is out of your reach? Well, too often the things many people think come easily for everyone, don't. Help make the basic supplies accessible to ICT students!

The students attending our Arts and Science Elementary School come from various backgrounds.

Most of them come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and receive free or reduced price lunch. Unfortunately, our school, which receives Title I funding, lacks many of the resources and funding necessary for my students to have access to the materials they desperately need. Despite the lack of resources, my students demonstrate an eagerness to learn and grow both academically and socially. In line with the vision of our school, they effortlessly celebrate the uniqueness of each other and are open to learn and grow together.

My Project

The supplies I am requesting for my classroom will help my students to begin the year organized and well-equipped. The color pencils, crayons, construction papers and stick glues will help us to infuse art into our daily academic activities. My 1/2 ICT students will use them to sketch and enhance illustrations they do during reading response, writing, science and social studies. The sharpener will keep my students' pencils sharp as we sharpen their minds through a global studies curriculum! My students will use the clipboards to support their papers during classroom activities that require them to work away from their desks and or in partnerships. The mailboxes will provide for an efficient way for my students to access and return assignments and letters, which will enhance home and school communication. Students will not only learn to be organized, but they will learn to work cooperatively and collaboratively as they share our community resources.

Your donations will assist my students in their growth as citizens.

Their world will be expanded outside of their community, as they experience people, who are not familiar with them in any way, making sacrifices to enhance their learning experiences. This can change many of their perspectives about people in our world, as they realize that there are many people whose intentions are to do good and not to harm.
