My Project

I have developed an interactive Personal Finance curriculum for students in my 12th grade Economics class at my school, a NYC public high school with a dual mission of excellence in the performing arts and academics. My students are bright and eager to learn about what it takes to be a financially stable and independent as they prepare to go off to college and enter the workforce. Your generous donation of technology to our classroom will help my students realize that goal!

My vision is to utilize interactive resources, games, etc.

to help create financial literacy and prepare these young adults for the real world. My desire is to take topics that are considered "dull" or "boring", such as learning to complete a 1040 tax form or how to create a budget for managing resources, and then utilize web-based, interactive tools and resources to help make learning about these topics fun and engaging. Many of the activities that students partake in require internet access. Unfortunately, we do not have enough laptop computers in our school to issue to students for daily in-class use and we do not want to promote the use of cell phones in class. Your generous donation will help provide the technology necessary for students to get the most out of our curriculum and develop the skills to be financially sound adults. It is in all of our best interest to invest in these young adults and their financial literacy to ensure that they develop the skills necessary to contribute to the American economy and build a future that is strong and prosperous for us all!
