My Students

My students are in a low income district and are typically two grade levels behind in mathematics, language arts/literacy, and science. They desperately need resources to close the achievement gap.

My school is located in urban New Jersey.

The majority of the students' families live at or below the poverty line and receive free or reduced lunch fare. This year marks the first of our quest for students to obtain an International Baccalaureate. With a new administration's focus on Building Responsible Intelligent Creative Kids (B.R.I.C.K.) the framework allows for both teachers and students to be inquirers, erudite, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, respectful, risk-takers, balanced and reflective. My goal is to obtain high achievement from myself and my students to close the achievement gap.

My Project

I have chosen resources that will enhance my teaching ability through the ability to greater differentiate. Through differentiation, these resources are used as Center activities, allowing students the chance to become better thinkers, problems solvers, and build valuable cooperative skills. The curriculum lacks expanded opportunities to practice skills and thus these resources will afford them that opportunity. The Social Studies Teaching Center allows students to explore.

This project will provide hands on, interactive activities that will enable all learners to build confidence in their skills.

This will build greater motivation, a sense of empowerment, joy and fun of learning in all subjects. Their explorations during this project will not only expose them to new ideas, but also enrich comprehension of secure standards. This project will assist us greatly securing a better future for these children.
