This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Hi, My name is Rachel Floyd, and I teach 9th and 12th grade English. My students are absolutely incredible, and although we are only a month in, I know we are in for a great year. They are empathetic, hard-working, and intelligent, and I'm so excited to see them succeed this year.

With classes that are rather large and a classroom that is rather small, my goal for this project is to obtain organization materials and sensory-friendly tools to make my classroom a more functional place that is conducive for learning.

I have classes as large as 32, making the physical space of my classroom less than ideal as I had to put in far more desks than the space should have. These bouncy Banda, headphones and other materials will help students focus despite the large class sizes and also help me organize the classroom effectively despite the limited space. In addition, these sensory items will be especially helpful for my students with disabilities who need a sensory friendly environment to thrive.
