My Students

Our schools serve students who attend District 75 in the NYC public school system. These unique learners have moderate to severe disabilities and we take pride in individualizing our learning environments to adapt to the needs of each child. Our amazing students are incoming Kindergarteners-1st graders who have Autism or some form of an Intellectual Disability. These students have unique needs that include but are not limited to sensory processing disorders, fleeting attention spans and over-stimulatory behaviors, which makes remote learning a challenge for our special learners.

My Project

Please help us create a safer and more flexible environment for our students with Autism. Our students will return to full in-person instruction this Fall after 18 months of remote learning for some! Remote instruction has been a challenge to our students and the challenges aren't over. Our classroom structure must change to ensure that safety precautions are being met while providing our special needs students with the benefits of in-person learning.

Having supplies like plastic privacy boards will decrease behaviors pertaining to over-stimulation and help our students remain focused on school related tasks throughout the day.

It will also allow us to disinfect them on a daily basis. Extra PPE equipment such as disposable aprons, an extra air purifier, and face shields for adults and students will add an extra layer of protection for our students who cannot wear a mask due to sensory processing concerns, safe handling of bodily fluids during potty training of students who cannot receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Thank you for giving a child with special needs a chance to learn in a safer environment that is more suitable to their needs!
