My Students
I teach High School History and coordinate a course in Restorative Approaches. All of my students are English learners from a variety of countries. My students bring diverse cultures, languages, and experiences to my classes. I teach in a high poverty school where over 80% of students receive free and reduced meals.
My Project
Teachers never stop learning and this project will support me in creating a restorative classroom where students know that they are valued, powerful, and capable of building positive relationships. In the age of virtual learning, fostering real human connection is more important than ever. We need to embrace opportunities to create positive and supportive communities of belonging that value care, respect, and understanding. As I learn from these materials, I will use strategies with my students during class and help students understand how to build character, develop goals, and encourage their peers. It is also my hope to share this learning with other teachers in my school and district.
