My Students

My school community in Brooklyn, NY is very diverse, as are the needs of my students. My students are a unique group of 7/8 year-olds, many who are students with special needs and students who are English language learners. Although my class is very diverse they are very enthusiastic, and really enjoy coming to school. I am very lucky to have this group of students who are really trying to improve academically, behaviorally, and socially. They are a wonderful group of students who continue to make strides and amaze me.

Our class goal this year is to improve our reading skills and our reading comprehension.

With a lack of materials, it hinders the ability to provide a quality education for students. My students would be able to achieve so much more with the necessary tools.

My Project

Having a color printer in our classroom will allow me to print different colorful resources that will help capture my students attention. Majority of my students are visual learners, many who are learning English, so having a colorful printer will help me create a picture rich classroom environment that will help my students develop their language skills.

Having visual aids in a special education and ELL class wil help support the reading skills that my students are developing.

With the color printer I am able to print out colorful books on the students independent reading levels. Having the colorful books will help draw the students attention to the story and help create a sense of excitement for what they are reading. For many students who are struggling readers having colorful pictures to look at will help them with reading comprehension.
