My Students

Our school has implemented the position of science specialist. Students will go for 50 minutes a week to a lab where they will receive hands-on instruction in science in addition to what they already receive in the classroom. These materials will help in providing hands-on experiences.

As the science specialist, I will be servicing about 1,000 students in a week.

Our student population is very diverse. We have many cultures represented. We also have students within the entire socioeconomic spectrum. Even with all of this diversity, the students at my school are hard workers that enjoy learning new things. That is the main reason we have a science specialist. The students will devour all sorts of knowledge that they may otherwise not receive.

My Project

All of the materials in my project will be used under teacher supervision. However, the items will provide unique opportunities for students to conduct process activities that they would not be able to do otherwise. The digital microscope can put things up on a computer or even up on the interactive whiteboard. The digital scale and hot plate will assist in lessons and experiments involving measurement, changes in matter, and heat energy.

Since this is a new position at my school, I am basically starting from scratch in building a successful science lab.

I'm slowly acquiring materials and the school can only purchase so much. This will help in providing appropriate materials so students can receive the best experiences in regards to science.
