Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students are English Language Learners (ELL) who are just beginning to blend letter sounds into words. To support their growth, they need access to a variety of books, from picture books to early chapter books, so they can continue improving their reading skills in an engaging way.

Despite language barriers and challenges, they show incredible determination and curiosity as they embark on their learning journey.

I have seen great progress in their reading, and with easy access to books that match their level, they will feel more confident and motivated to read both in the classroom and at home.

In addition to literacy, social-emotional learning (SEL) books are essential for helping my students develop key skills like self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation. These books will provide important lessons in managing their emotions, building relationships, and understanding themselves and others—skills they need both inside and outside the classroom.

The classroom is small, so a requested storage bench will help organize the space while providing comfortable seating for students to read. This dual-purpose bench will store books and create a cozy spot for them to explore their new books in the limited space.

They truly deserve a classroom that supports their needs and encourages their growth. Every donation will help create a classroom library that encourages kids to read, explore, and dream. And your generosity will provide them with the tools to continue thriving.
