Our 8th grade students are exiting and full of life. As teachers, we need to engage them through text that is as exciting as they are.
Encouraging a love of reading is a priority for our classroom.
Our students need access to books of many different genres. Novel studies are a favorite for our students. When you have 140 students and 40 copies of the book, planning can be difficult. Our kids like to read but we want them to love to read.
My Project
Our students love to participate in novel studies but we do not always have enough copies of a book to provide to each student. This means they either go out and buy the book or hope they can borrow one from somewhere else. Help us increase our library so our kids have access to the books they need without the financial burden of purchasing the book themselves. Allowing them to borrow their own copy means that they can use sticky notes to hold their place, write down questions and comments as they go and just show ownership of their belongings.
