Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from all corners of the world--Vietnam, China, Bangladesh, Tibet, Yemen, Guinea, Senegal, Ecuador, Haiti, and many more countries--and all are very recent immigrants to the United States. They come from different educational backgrounds, they speak different native languages, and they represent different religions, cultures, and world views. But what brings them together is a common eagerness to be accepted and to be at home in this country.

I am very honored to spend their senior year with them and thus have the chance to see them through one of the turning points in their lives.

All of them leave a lasting impact on me--and on our school.

My Project

Please help me grow my classroom lending library! The books I've listed will help expand my classroom library and give more resources to the English language learners in my class.

My 12th-grade students need exposure to a wide range of non-fiction titles, and the books on this list will help them grow their reading comprehension skills.

The books in this order will also help boost my students' research skills and challenge them to consider different perspectives. Additionally, these books will help me deepen my students' literacy and numeracy skills--essential skills for surviving life on their own after they graduate from high school.
