Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Technology, Programming and Graphics to 90 high schoolers and we are in desperate need of an upgrade. These are curious, intelligent and motivated young people but they really need better tools to prepare them for life after school.

My kids are amazing young people with creative ideas and a desire to learn and create.

With the right tools, they will be able to do more sophisticated work and practice with tools that they might really encounter in the workplace - at least for the kinds of jobs that students will want and society will need in the near future.

My Project

My students have access to the web and we learn coding in my classroom, but sometimes good old-fashioned books are just what they need to be able to see a clear course of action, have handy reference charts an be able to write and share what they're learning in class on whiteboards.

With the right reference materials, kids can expand their learning, share ideas and learn in a more guided and directed fashion than just web searching.

These books are excellent resources for them that they can keep open while they code, take out of the library and learn independently and clarify their understanding. With the right posters around the room, students will be constantly exposed to the information they need to work well.
