Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
How challenging would it be if you had to complete a 21st century style education program without access to a computer in your home? Many of our students do not have computer access outside of school. Help us pilot a computer share program for 9th graders.
Our school is a brand new, small public school.
We've been open for a year and already have 100 students enrolled in computer science course work. We attract creative students from inner city neighborhoods who are interested in having educational experiences organized around several themes such as film, music, visual arts, coding and design. Though our students face many challenges, they are resilient and use their creativity and love of technology to produce meaningful work that they are proud to share with their communities. Many of our students attend school because they dream of being video game programmers and web designers. Our intensive STEM + the Arts program allows for students to engage in project based learning and earn credits toward a software engineering certification.
My Project
We will use the three, small Acer lap tops to start a pilot program where students who need more time to work on their programming projects can check out the laptops during lunch periods and before and after school. This will allow students to go to a quiet location in the school and spend extra time doing what they love--programming video games. Some of our students have no access to computers at home. I would like to implement an overnight computer borrowing program that allows students opportunities to take the computer home to access our 24/7 online learning opportunities and have even more time to complete projects. Preparing yourself for a 21st century career is hard enough but without the proper tools it is nearly impossible. With your help, our students can get access to the tools they need to succeed.
Your donations are critical because they will increase student access to valuable tools and support a computer sharing program that allows students extra time to learn programming during the school day and at home, bringing them one step closer to realizing their career dreams.
If this project is successful, our school can work to expand and implement a computer share system to increase student access.
