My students need math materials and learning games, such as student clocks, write and wipe boards, and double-sided counters. Our classroom is also in need of a storage place for the above resources.

My Students
2nd grade math instruction is hands-on, engaging, and fun! My students are in need of some new materials. Individual clocks, money sets, geometry blocks, measuring tools, and other resources will help increase understanding. A storage cart is needed to organize and store the requested materials.
I teach a diverse group of children with backgrounds ranging from military families to low-income households.
Our school is small and takes on many characteristics of an inner city school. We are a magnet school of technology that serves local children, as well as those who earn spots through the lottery system.
My Project
Students will use individual clocks to learn how to tell time. They will use counters and dice for center games and partner work. The allowance game and money sets will help students grasp the difficult concept of counting money and applying it to real life situations. Measuring tapes will be useful for our gardening project and other activities involving measurement.
I am most excited about the magnetic manipulative set and white board! These tools will enable me to teach math concepts in small groups that are differentiated to better meet students' needs.
Geometry shapes, counters, dice, and the other materials allow students to visualize concepts and apply kinesthetic learning. My students struggle with math when taught mostly from the computer and SMART board. Math concepts should be taught with engaging tools to allow students a variety of methods to make connections and understand numbers.
The storage cart will assist in keeping our new materials organized and accessible.
My students really struggle with the concepts of money, time, and geometry.
Donations to my classroom will change the lives of these low-income students who desperately need resources outside of a computer. There is a balance to learning with technology, and students also need hands-on materials. This donation will allow each and every one of my students to learn math concepts through play and exploration!
More than half of students from low‑income households
