My Project

This project is designed to provide a diverse and engaging collection of books for elementary and middle school students, ranging from picture books and graphic novels to young adult literature. By expanding our library’s offerings, we aim to foster a love for reading among students of all ages and reading levels. The collection will include a variety of genres and themes to appeal to students’ varied interests and encourage them to read beyond the classroom curriculum.

The books I am requesting will provide students with a wealth of reading opportunities, enabling them to explore new topics, develop literacy skills, and build confidence as readers.

The picture books will help younger students with foundational reading and comprehension skills, while the graphic novels will appeal to reluctant readers, offering an exciting and visual way to engage with stories. These books will also provide windows into different cultures, experiences, and perspectives, promoting empathy and broadening their worldview.

My goal for this project is to create a well-rounded library collection that meets the needs of all students, from early readers to those preparing for high school. I want to inspire a lifelong love of reading, improve literacy skills across all grade levels, and provide access to materials that students may not have access to at home. By giving them access to a wide range of reading materials, my goal is to cultivate a community of confident, curious, and engaged learners who are excited about discovering new worlds through books.

My students are incredibly diverse in their backgrounds, interests, and learning styles, making them uniquely special. They are eager to learn, explore, and connect with new ideas, and they thrive when given opportunities to engage with materials that reflect their own experiences as well as those of others.
