Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are schooled in a homeless shelter in the 4th largest school district in the United States. The four year olds are 60% Hispanic and 40% African American. They are full of HOPE AND WONDER! I seek to make their classroom hours, their best moments as their lives have many difficult circumstances.

This literacy project will bring cultural and racial awareness and sensitivity at an early age to my four year old students!

Teaching children about their similarities and differences will allow my students to gain awareness of different races, as well as learn to have cultural conversations.

The books will be read with a strategic plan of questioning and learning. A book a week during GROUP READING will allow for the project to be completed during the school year. Additionally, the laptops will allow storybook time to be recorded and shared via the classroom website and social media platforms.
