My Students

When asked what the most positive force in one's life is, all of my students would surely answer with the name of someone that he or she sees on a regular basis at school. We are a family of students, teachers, administrators, and paraprofessionals who work every day to make our community a better place.

Located in East New York, Brooklyn, we are a Title 1 school that serves grades 6-12.

99% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch, yet they do not let their surroundings or situation drag them down. Our students are kind, conscientious, and studious.

My Project

Computer literacy is considered to be a necessary skill in any job capacity, yet some schools lack the resources to provide adequate computer education. This year, a small group of middle schoolers will become the first cohort of students in my school to be instructed in computer skills as well as basic computer programming. We will be using resources provided by code.org throughout the year.

Once dismissed as an educational fad, it can no longer be denied that a basic knowledge of computer science is a pre-requisite skill in the 21st century job market.

Help my students and me as we make computer science class a cornerstone of our school's culture.
