My Students

My school is a public Title I school located in a high poverty area. I teach a bilingual 4th and 5th Grade self-contained classroom. There is a wide range of abilities in my classroom, like autism, intellectual disabilities, and speech and language impairments. Almost all of my students are English language learners.

My students are very hard-working, full of questions, and they come ready to learn every day.

One thing my students have in common is the desire to read. They love to read all the time!

My Project

In the upcoming American Revolution unit, my students need to use a variety of history books to build up their reading and researching skills. They also need to work on their research projects based on their knowledge of the American Revolution. Since my students are reading in lower levels, history books about the American Revolution can be difficult for them to understand.

Help me to motivate my students to love, appreciate, and remember the American Revolution!

The books I requested are topics of the American Revolution, such as famous men and women, well-known historical events, reasons for the American Revolution, and so on.

The requested books with great picture support will allow my students to experience historical events and famous historical people. After reading and researching the requested books, students will come up a chapter book with their interesting topics about the American Revolution.

With the help of these books, my bilingual special education students can empathize with people who lived at that time, make personal connections, and deepen their understanding of the American Revolution.
