This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The materials and supplies my coteacher and I are requesting for our ICT classroom will be used to help set up a fresh-new classroom and Math Corner for the start of the school year. [We especially hope to spruce up our Math Corner as it's previously been treated as secondary to literacy spaces in our classroom.] Yes, schools often buy supplies (notebooks/glue sticks etc...) for classrooms, but teachers must purchase specialized items or items needed to decorate the classroom. Since our K students can't yet read, we rely heavily on class decor, fresh/new pencils etc., to help show our learners how much we care about our classroom with the hopes of instilling that love of learning in them as well. The moment our students step into our classroom we want them to be dazzled by color, excitement, and new materials. Here are examples of how we plan to use the materials we have requested:

Colored decorations, colored card stock, and stickers will be used to create a bright, inviting and exciting classroom for our students.

The moment students step in the room, we hope they will be inspired and excited to learn. Playdoh is an important math manipulative we use in Kindergarten to infuse hands-on activities into learning and meet the needs of our diverse learners. New primary pencils (always used by K students at the start of the school year) as opposed to recycling old, broken ones, always leave a better impression and create more willingness for the students to learn. In this supply list, we've also included paper towels and other cleaning materials that we will use to make sure our classroom is shining bright and ready to welcome students on the first day of school.
