Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My wonderful second graders love reading - especially graphic novels, superhero books and joke books. They are caring, creative and hard-working. They are eager to fluently add and subtract. They're eyes light up when they are engaged in learning experiences.

Please, help make our classroom into the organized and supportive learning environment my students so desperately need.

For many of my students, the classroom is a place to escape into a nurturing, supportive environment. Almost all of them come from low income households. Many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school. Once they are in the classroom we work as hard asa possible to create a nurturing space that will help them live up to their potential and be happy, healthy and successful.

My Project

For students with trouble focusing or with hyperactivity and boundless energy the demands of the classroom can be extraordinarily difficult. Being told to sit still and work quietly all school day can feel like torture! And quietly listening can be equally as hard.

These tools will help my most active and energetic students feel calm enough to get focused and get to work!

The wobble stools help students sit still without having to sit still. The fidget toys will keep their hands busy so they can keep listening. The noise canceling headphones will help them stay focused when it gets noisy during independent work time. And the beach chair will let them take a "vacation" break when they need to get away from all the expectations.
