Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are predominately Latino and African American. They are very energetic young adolescents that are very creative. They have demonstrated interests in the arts. Seeing that I am a scientist and a photographer has allowed them to seek other branches of their arts to heightened their interest in the diverse community of science. Teaching during a pandemic has been difficult. Incorporating blending learning and remote learning has proposed many challenges for me as an educator.

My students are Latinos and African American students with other diverse backgrounds in East Harlem.

My Project

I have 93 students. I work in East Harlem NY. We have a blended learning model and using a 2nd screen will allow me to multi-task, share my screen, while also providing feedback and encouragement as I am teaching my lessons virtually.

I am teaching 8th graders in East Harlem the advanced Living Environment Regents.

They require a lot of visuals and modeling to understand many difficult science concepts. Having 2 monitors will allow me to facilitate instructions, assess the students accordingly, and provide support as needed.

Using the iPad will allow me to incorporate more project-based learning in science content in order to allow all my students to successfully meet proficiency in Living Environment Regents.
