Every year, the art department is given an extremely small budget to work with and a large student population. Art supplies are consumable, meaning we go through them very quickly! Some of the best supplies to use in the art room are extremely expensive. When you donate to this DonorsChoose, you are purchasing the most expensive supplies that we have to sometimes leave out due to budget constraints. Some of the supplies I am asking for include sculpey clay (we like to use this to make polymer clay keychains and jewelry), posca pen markers (we use this for customer sneakers and other art projects), various color pencils and markers as well as pencils for daily art class usage. I am also asking for a storage bin to help store some of these supplies, especially because I tend to bounce between multiple classroom spaces.
I teach at our high school, which is ranked #4 nationally in the USA as one of the best schools and is currently the #1 school in Pennsylvania.
Our students are academically talented and gifted, extremely smart and hardworking, but need this creative outlet of an art class and the correct art supplies in order to achieve their desired works of art! Art is such an important part of our students schedule, and I seriously appreciate all of the effort and help you are giving to help our creativity and dreams come to life! I have had two projects funded so far and I am so grateful for this community.
